ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The fragile environment is undergoing unsustainable levels of stress from growing population with their ever increasing needs and wants. Fast depletion of resources, shrinking of water bodies, desertification, pollution are some of the major problems the present generation faces. Scientists bring to our attention complex but urgent problems that are bearing on our very survival-a warming globe, acid precipitation, threats to ozone layer, accumulation of green house gases, deserts consuming agricultural land, fast depletion of vital natural resources, the disappearance of rain forests and loss of species. The ecological crisis is the outcome of the human impact on nature. Unbridled access to natural resources by the corporate business is considered the primary source for the present crisis. If the present trend of overdrawing of resources is allowed, it would result in environmental catastrophe which would ultimately paralyze the trade, industry and commerce.
Global warming induced climate change is very serious threat, perhaps the most serious that humans have ever collectively faced. But despite growing recognition of this among governments, business and the public, the problem is getting worse. The IPCC reports informed disturbing predictions of the future if we fail to act. Carbon dioxide emissions are raising more quickly even than the average of the IPCC’s worst case scenarios. While the 2007 report predicted that sea levels would rise by 50 cm by the end of the century that estimate has now doubled; and in spite of  the agreements made by world’s richest nations to reduce their emissions under the Kyoto protocol, global emissions have continued to grow exponentially.
Therefore, the threat of climate change is urgent, and the evidence for it is now unequivocal with effects such as increasing land and ocean temperatures, raising global average sea level and reduced snow and ice already being observed. The world faces severe consequences, and it is time now that we must act now to reduce the impacts. The rise in emissions is due to growing production and ever increased consumption combined with an expanding global population.
It is neither desirable, socially nor possible in reality to deny countries the opportunity to develop and raise living standards. Therefore the aim of this conference is to find routes to low- carbon improvements in living standards in both developed and developing countries by redefining the practices followed by the Industries, Business and Consumers.
Climate change represents a new and somewhat daunting topic for many businesses. The challenge is compounded by the diverse and uncertain projections of changes in temperature, precipitation patterns, extreme events, and other effects. Attempting to understand climate change would reduce risk and bring new opportunities to the business. Adoption may also create new product markets and new technology which ultimately bring new economics. The Conference will focus on a critical first step in assessing these climate impacts, understanding the potential risk to business and the importance of taking action to mitigate those risks. It will also help business houses to assess whether they are likely to be vulnerable to the physical risk associated with climate change and possible solution to minimise the risk. The proposed International Event will create awareness about how business and consumption activities causing change in the climate pattern and to share knowledge of best adoption practices to mitigate the effect of climate change both within and outside the country.

OBJECTIVES OF THE CONFERENCE
The primary objective of this International Conference is to prepare the Industries, Business and Consumers to meet the challenges of global warming and the resultant problems associated with climate change. The following are the other objectives :

1.       To sensitize the business and corporate about their likely vulnerability due to the physical risk of climate change.
2.       To emphasis the need for integrating of climate change considerations into corporate and business strategies.
3.       To sensitize the consumers to embrace and practice of sustainable consumption.
4.       To inform the corporate that the efforts to address climate change will bring new horizons of opportunities and markets.
5.       To emphasize the need for redefining the consumption activities of corporate and consumers.
6.       To share the adoption and mitigation practices followed by the corporate within and outside the country.
